GDS Leave Rules 

1. Types of Leaves

Paid Leave/ Emergency Leave/ Maternity Leave/ Leave Without Allowance/ Special casual leave.

2. Paid Leave 20 days.

3. Emergency Leave (01.01.2019) : 5 days in a calendar year/ 2 days at time can be claimed.

4. Maternity Leave for less than 2 child/ 180 days/ 45 days in case of miscarriage.

5. Special casual leave from 09.10.2009 for Donating Blood/ Attending Service Union Meeting.

GDS Allowances 

1. Composite Allowance : Standard Accommodation 500 per month/ Non Standard Accommodation 250 per month given to BPM only.

2. Cycle maintenance Allowances 180/month to ABPM/ Daksevaks only.

3. Cash Conveyance Rs.30 for carrying below One Lakh/ Rs.50 for carrying above one lakh.

Types of Allowances and Descriptions

Cash Conveyance Allowance (CCA)

The duty of BPM for delivery or mail transportation work will provide Rs 45 in one day and up to a maximum of Rs 1170 in one month.

If the BPM performs delivery and mail conveyance, they will be provided Rs 90 per day and a maximum of Rs 2340 per month.

If ABPM takes charge of BPM work, then CDA will be Rs 75 for one day and a maximum of Rs 1950 per month.

If ABPM or Dak Sevak takes charge of additional work of another ABPM or Dak Sevak, then the CDA will be Rs 45 per day and a maximum of Rs 1170.

Cycle Maintenance Allowance (CMA)

It was provided Rs 60 per month but now it has been revised to Rs 180 per month. It is basically given to the GDS Mail deliverer or the Mail Carrier who performs their duty on their own bicycle for the maintenance of their cycle.

Boat Allowance

The Boat Allowance has been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 115.

Risk and Hardship Allowance (RHA)

It was not provided before but currently, this allowance is provided to the GDS discharging their duties in specified areas. This allowance provided is Rs 500.

Fixed Stationary Charge (FSC)

The ABPMS and Dak Sevaks are provided with Rs 25 as FSC.

Office Maintenance Allowance (OMA)

This allowance is for BPM only. The BPMs were provided with OMA as Rs 100, but now composite allowances of Rs 500 and 250 are being provided for accommodation.

Service Discharge Benefit Scheme (SDBS)

As the GDS were not able to participate in the National Pension Scheme, the Indian government launched the SDBS for GDS employees and the department. Managed by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), the contribution to this scheme has increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300 for GDS as well as for the department.

Ex-gratia Gratuity

The ex-gratia gratuity has increased from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.5 lakhs.

Severance Amount

This is the amount India Post will pay to the employee as a goodwill gesture in case of termination of employment. It has been increased from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.5 Lakhs.

Maternity Leave

This leave is provided for 180 days, and the department pays the employee's salary during this period.
